  • Need to go!

    January 26, 2010

As much as I wanted to keep the tree up, it’s just not going to work. It’s almost February for heaven’s sake! The tree has to go!

    Oh, finally!!

Ahhh, the open and airy feeling….gotta love that!

    Back to Backsplash

    May 24, 2009

It has been 3 1/2 years and I still don’t have a kitchen backsplash. A backsplash is the decorative design installed in the space between your kitchen cabinets and your countertops. It can be made of tiles, glass, ceramic, faux paint, or the same material as your countertops such as granite, quarts, corian, or any man-made solid surface.

I have been wanting to get it done but for some reasons my co-designer (my hubby, that is…lol!) never had time for it.

This summer, that’s the plan. No “buts”. No 2nd thoughts. Just go for it. And hopefully, grout is included in the installation (like someone I know)…LOL!

Okay, the 1st step is to order the tiles, decorative accent, outlet plates, and grout. Unfortunately, not all home improvements stores carry this type of tile. There’s a few specialty stores that carry this but they charge so much. They double the price if not triple. Ordering on-line will save us a lot of money in the process. So, order-on-line is the route we’re taking.

This is the tile we chose to order. The brand name is Daltile. The style is called Urban Camouflage. It’s made of glass in a variety of urban colors. We’re thinking of the brushed nickel tile as the decorative accent.  The combined materials will hopefully give our kitchen the glossy, modern twist that we wanted.

    Off the wall

    October 30, 2008

I stumbled across this idea for soap dish shelves. I can’t believe that this soap dish shelf idea is from Martha Stewart. It’s quite unexpected, alright….but nah, no thanks!

Maybe this would work in one of her houses, but not in mine! This would look like I bolted soap dishes to the wall trying to be clever just like one of the shows in HGTV. LOL!

Apparently, it supposed to hold keys, coins and other small items….such as soap!? Soap in your foyer…….clever…..LOL!
