    June 29, 2010

Finally, our project is now finished. (Check out previous entry related to this topic:  http://www.chuvaloo.com/?p=5360)

We framed the black and white photographs of the kids. We used a studio wall easel. Less  holes in the wall.  It’s multi-level and very versatile.

    Karate Kids

    June 26, 2010

This summer, we enrolled them both in Karate. There’s a school called National Karate in the area. We thought it will keep them active and occupied in the summer.

There are many reasons for kids to become involved in Martial Arts. It teaches them confidence, discipline, respect, focus and self defense in time of danger.

This school also joins various competition. If there’s one in your area, I recommend enrolling your kids.

    Splat Attack!

    May 21, 2010

There’s this splatter water toy that sticks on the wall. It’s called SPLAT. It’s a noverly squishy toy that sticks, splats, and then returns to its original shape.

They have had an orange pig.

For whatever reason, my son decided to toss it high up in the ceiling. Of course, it will stick. See the photos below.

He attacked it with his NERF gun. Rest in peace sticky piggy!

    Passion for Fashion

    November 13, 2009

Bandai America Inc. has released a new toy/product called Harumika (www.Harumika.com).

It’s a set consists of swaths of colorful and patterned fabrics that will be used to create individual clothing designs on a miniature plastic mannequin. The mannequin has a gap in the middle where you can insert the fabric to hold it in place.

It’s a very unique design toy that will make any little girl unleash their inner fashion creativity. Exactly! Just like Project Runway!

    Check out my daughter’s recent creation…. ;-)

This is a 3,000-year old Egyptian limestone sculpture of a woman that has been on display at the Chicago’s Field Museum since 1988. According to the news, the sculpture recently started drawing attention because of its likeness to the late King of Pop, Michael Jackson.

I found this interesting bits of information by accident.

Photographer Mark Seliger re-creates scenes from the 1961 film version of the West Side Story with the help of one of its biggest fans, Jennifer Lopez.

West Side Story is gang warfare set to music. It’s a story about love and death with a Latin beat.

In this photo, you’ll see Jennifer Lopez as Anita. She is the character in the movie who danced her way to the top. She’s a defiant Latina immigrant. She’s the one in a purple dress. The character Maria is Camilla Belle. She’s the one in a white dress. And of course, there’s Robert Pattinson at the far right with his hands in the air. He is next to Brittany Snow who’s in pink. That’s Ashley Tisdale in blue.

I do not know so much about “art”, more so “paintings” - the medium they use, the meaning, colors, movements, artist’s techniques, etc. I can not speak “art”. I look at a piece of art and then form my own opinion. That’s how simple I appreciate it.

A dear friend, Vic (http://suddentext.blogspot.com/), happens to be collecting art works. He can look at simple painting in a very artistic way. He understands and he can read the meaning behind multiple colors enveloping a certain subject. He speaks art.

He has a friend who is a REAL artist (Sergio Rocha), and, he’s going to have an ART SALE in Chicago. I pasted all the information and the “specifics” of the event. Please visit the event. You will be surprised how TALENTED the artist is.

Event description (from Vic’s original invite).

    =============================================================

Why settle for a generic piece of art? You can own an original!

Sergio Rocha, a Fine Arts graduate in Manila has been painting for more than three decades. He is a member of the Plein Air Society of Chicago and has been described both in the US and in the Philippines as a great pastelist. He is equally adept in oil, acrylic, watercolor and pastel. He has been exhibited extensively and is well collected in the Philippines and in the US.

Now you, too, can own an original Rocha as he unloads hundreds of old work. Prices range from $25 to $100, depending on the medium and the size (a 50% -75% discount on original gallery prices).

His studio is open to vieweres and buyers on March 8, from 10 am to 6 pm

    Twilight

    November 24, 2008

Reports show that Catherine Hardwicke’s vampire chiller earned $70.6 million, making it the biggest opening ever for a female director.  The film made an impressive $20,636 per theater, according to Sunday morning estimates.

The book has sold millions of copies worldwide. Goodluck if you want to buy a copy. It’s sold out!

The book was written by a stay-at-home mom. It is a young adult fiction, romance, gothic fantasy!  That explains why it’s sold so well … in 20 different languages.

    Goddess Kali

    November 3, 2008

That’s Heidi Klum dressed as the Hindu goddess, Kali. This goddess is an evil destroyer and therefore must have a beautiful face. Heidi, on the other hand, has a scary looking face. You decide.
