  • Noon Kaboom

    March 17, 2010

Has anyone heard this NOON KABOOM?

I just recently found out about the NOON KABOOM. It’s a program in B96 where they play old school, freestyle music everyday at noon.

Try to listen to it on your computer. Or, download the app to your iPhone.

Reminds me of the gold old days. ;-)

    Ain’t No Sunshine

    February 24, 2010

I’ve always been a fan of this song. I’m talking about the original – Bill Withers. However, after hearing this version by Selah Sue (She’s a Belgian musician), I think I like this one better. Perhaps, it’s the reggae vibe that made me like it.

This video was from the recent charity show for Haiti.

    Not your typical covers

    November 30, 2009

I truly enjoyed the GLEE Season 1 soundtrack. They are actually pretty good considering they’re not singers by profession (well, I guess sort of because of the show). One of my faves is Alone.

The songs totally kick ass! Definitely, not your typical “covers” album.

    Unacceptable Outburst

    September 14, 2009

Stealing someone’s moment is not acceptable. That was Taylor Swift’s moment, and obviously a very important one for her. Some total douche stole that moment away from her. Very disrespectful. That’s exactly what happened at last night’s VMA.

Maybe the other artist is better. In fact it’s true. But, that artist did not win. Get over it!

I tried to link the clip from last night’s show but it was shutdown. Check www.MTV.com.

Here’s the infamous “apology”. It did not make any sense at all though. Maybe it was sincere after all. The fact the he did this kind of thing many times, do you think people will still believe in this? Well, maybe this is better than not apologizing at all.

“I’M SOOOOO SORRY TO TAYLOR SWIFT AND HER FANS AND HER MOM. I SPOKE TO HER MOTHER RIGHT AFTER AND SHE SAID THE SAME THING MY MOTHER WOULD’VE SAID. SHE IS VERY TALENTED! I LIKE THE LYRICS ABOUT BEING A CHEERLEADER AND SHE’S IN THE BLEACHERS! …………………… I’M IN THE WRONG FOR GOING ON STAGE AND TAKING AWAY FROM HER MOMENT!…………….. BEYONCE’S VIDEO WAS THE BEST OF THIS DECADE!!!! I’M SORRY TO MY FANS IF I LET YOU GUYS DOWN!!!! I’M SORRY TO MY FRIENDS AT MTV. I WILL APOLOGIZE TO TAYLOR 2MRW. WELCOME TO THE REAL WORLD!!!! EVERYBODY WANNA BOOOOO ME BUT I’M A FAN OF REAL POP CULTURE!!! NO DISRESPECT BUT WE WATCHIN’ THE SHOW AT THE CRIB RIGHT NOW CAUSE … WELL YOU KNOW!!!! I’M STILL HAPPY FOR TAYLOR!!!! BOOOYAAAWWWW!!!! YOU ARE VERY VERY TALENTED!!! I GAVE MY AWARDS TO OUTKAST WHEN THEY DESERVED IT OVER ME… THAT’S WHAT IT IS!!!!!!! I’M NOT CRAZY YALL, I’M JUST REAL. SORRY FOR THAT!!! I REALLY FEEL BAD FOR TAYLOR AND I’M SINCERELY SORRY!!! MUCH RESPECT!!!!!

According to the news, many artists/celebrities twitted about that incident – Katy Perry, Pink, Kelly Clarkson to name a few.

    Bing it to know more!

    I Gotta Feeling

    September 11, 2009

Few days ago, the taping of OPRAH was held along Michigan Avenue (Yes, they literally closed down the street during taping).

Prior to that, they’ve twitted that they’re in need of folks who would be willing to participate in a dance routine as part of the show. Hundreds and hundreds of people responded and below’s the result.

That’s Black Eyed Peas singing “I Gotta Feeling”.

It’s freakin’ awesome! It makes you want to love Chicago even more!

    Evacuate the Dancefloor

    September 8, 2009

Cascada, the famous German eurodance group will be performing at John Barleycorn in October 8. Their hit singles include “Everytime We Touch” which won them a World Music Award in 2007, “What Hurts the Most” , and the latest one, “Evacuate the Dancefloor” which recently became a UK number one.

Apparently, this is a private party/show. You will need to win to get the tix. I’ve been trying to win the tix through B96 and I haven’t had any luck (yet). ;-(

Get the 411 on B96 and through http://www.johnbarleycorn.com/events_tickets.htm

This is a 3,000-year old Egyptian limestone sculpture of a woman that has been on display at the Chicago’s Field Museum since 1988. According to the news, the sculpture recently started drawing attention because of its likeness to the late King of Pop, Michael Jackson.

    Red shoes

    July 9, 2009

Have you seen Britney’s “If You Seek Amy” music video?

    http://www.britneyspears.com/2009/02/britneys-shoes.php

In this video, she’s wearing a Christian Louboutin (famous for its trademark “red” sole) Red Shoes. At that time, these shoes were not available in the market yet. Of course, now they are. And they’re beautiful up close.

These photos were taken in Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas.

The King of Pop died at the age of 50.

I heard about the news while driving home yesterday afternoon. It was so unreal! It did not sync in right away. I thought it was just a joke or something. Until the radio stations started playing Michael Jackson’s music.  That’s when I realized, “it’s not ajoke” after all.

This is the type of music I grew up with . It feels like part of my childhood was taken away.  *how dramatic*…..No, seriously, it feels like that though.

Well, of course, I had to call a BFF to break the news. The other one was busy buying stuff for her incoming weekend outdoor adventure. So, I settled for the other one……*kidding*.  She did not pick up the phone.   *Grrrrrr*………So, I left a message……pretending that I was talking to her. I talked and talked,  non-stop like an idiot. Until I realized, oh geez!…..she wasn’t on the other line.   LOL!

Kidding aside, it was shocking. His music will live forever.

Interestingly enough, I found out that these celebrities also died on the 25th.  Any thoughts on these?
