    A nice complement

    March 30, 2010

Apparently, Stephenie Meyer has a new book coming out!! It’s called The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner. It’s a novel and it’s not part of the vampire saga. However, it’s related to the 3rd book (Eclipse). In that book, there’s a glimpse of a newborn (newly created vampire) named Bree. She’s supposedly the youngest newborn.

In this new book, it talks about what it’s like to be a newborn. It’s written in Bree’s perpective. I think it’s a nice complement to the 3rd book.

That’s definitely something to look forward to.

    Watch out for:

$1 from each book sold will be donated to the American Red Cross.

    Graphic Novel

    January 21, 2010

Seriously? Until when are they going to stop milking its popularity?

First, it was a dream, then became a book. Followed by another book until it became a saga. then, a movie. And another one. Now, it’s a graphic novel? Are you serious?

Well, if you’re a real “twi-hard”, I guess you’re going to like this. Apparently, it was boiled down carefully not to miss important details from the book.

I’m interested in the graphics more so than the content.  Yeah, right!

    Unfriend

    November 17, 2009

Certainly, the English language is changing (well, it’s always been, and I’m sure you’ve noticed that too). It’s constantly adding a word that best reflects the current mood of the year. For example, “UNFRIEND” is now the new Oxford American Dictionary’s 2009 Word of the Year.

    Read below:

    http://www.pcworld.com/article/182339/unfriend_chosen_as_oxford_dictionarys_2009_word_of_the_year.html

I think this word was chosen because of the extreme popularity of FACEBOOK. The word “unfriend” refers to the deletion of friend(s) on Facebook. They used it as an action to trigger deletion of your cyber friend(s) from your account. Therefore, if it’s an “action”, then it must be a “verb”. Or not. LOL!

Whatever that is, it is now the coolest word in 2009. Believe it or not.

The other words that made it to the finalists for 2009 include netbook, which is a small laptop primarily meant for net browsing, and sexting, which is defined as sending sexually explicit texts and pictures via cell phone.

    Unacceptable Outburst

    September 14, 2009

Stealing someone’s moment is not acceptable. That was Taylor Swift’s moment, and obviously a very important one for her. Some total douche stole that moment away from her. Very disrespectful. That’s exactly what happened at last night’s VMA.

Maybe the other artist is better. In fact it’s true. But, that artist did not win. Get over it!

I tried to link the clip from last night’s show but it was shutdown. Check www.MTV.com.

Here’s the infamous “apology”. It did not make any sense at all though. Maybe it was sincere after all. The fact the he did this kind of thing many times, do you think people will still believe in this? Well, maybe this is better than not apologizing at all.

“I’M SOOOOO SORRY TO TAYLOR SWIFT AND HER FANS AND HER MOM. I SPOKE TO HER MOTHER RIGHT AFTER AND SHE SAID THE SAME THING MY MOTHER WOULD’VE SAID. SHE IS VERY TALENTED! I LIKE THE LYRICS ABOUT BEING A CHEERLEADER AND SHE’S IN THE BLEACHERS! …………………… I’M IN THE WRONG FOR GOING ON STAGE AND TAKING AWAY FROM HER MOMENT!…………….. BEYONCE’S VIDEO WAS THE BEST OF THIS DECADE!!!! I’M SORRY TO MY FANS IF I LET YOU GUYS DOWN!!!! I’M SORRY TO MY FRIENDS AT MTV. I WILL APOLOGIZE TO TAYLOR 2MRW. WELCOME TO THE REAL WORLD!!!! EVERYBODY WANNA BOOOOO ME BUT I’M A FAN OF REAL POP CULTURE!!! NO DISRESPECT BUT WE WATCHIN’ THE SHOW AT THE CRIB RIGHT NOW CAUSE … WELL YOU KNOW!!!! I’M STILL HAPPY FOR TAYLOR!!!! BOOOYAAAWWWW!!!! YOU ARE VERY VERY TALENTED!!! I GAVE MY AWARDS TO OUTKAST WHEN THEY DESERVED IT OVER ME… THAT’S WHAT IT IS!!!!!!! I’M NOT CRAZY YALL, I’M JUST REAL. SORRY FOR THAT!!! I REALLY FEEL BAD FOR TAYLOR AND I’M SINCERELY SORRY!!! MUCH RESPECT!!!!!

According to the news, many artists/celebrities twitted about that incident – Katy Perry, Pink, Kelly Clarkson to name a few.

    Bing it to know more!

    Evacuate the Dancefloor

    September 8, 2009

Cascada, the famous German eurodance group will be performing at John Barleycorn in October 8. Their hit singles include “Everytime We Touch” which won them a World Music Award in 2007, “What Hurts the Most” , and the latest one, “Evacuate the Dancefloor” which recently became a UK number one.

Apparently, this is a private party/show. You will need to win to get the tix. I’ve been trying to win the tix through B96 and I haven’t had any luck (yet). ;-(

Get the 411 on B96 and through http://www.johnbarleycorn.com/events_tickets.htm

    Sookie Stackhouse

    August 5, 2009

Okay, I’m officially and extremely hooked on True Blood! The Sookie Stackhouse novel, that is.

This is how it all started. Read the link from previous post:

    http://www.chuvaloo.com/?cat=42

Well, I wasn’t going to do this, but my resourceful husband found and ordered the first 2 series. Oh, I can live with that!!

Older series in hardcover are very hard to find. Those are not available in the regular, local bookstores (they only carry mass paperback in 4 X 6 size). My husband had to order them on-line. Well, they finally arrived! I couldn’t be more excited!

It was delivered through my husband’s workplace. He took a photo and here they are:

There are 9 books total. 7 more to go! That’s not bad, is it?

If you’re skeptical about the book, I recommend to watch it on HBO first. I can guarantee you that you’re going to like it.

I warn you. If you have a weak stomach, then you may need to close your eyes more than once. It takes a lot of guts to watch the nudity (and I mean there’s a LOT of those), lots of blood, weird settings, monsters and a very  unusual love story. It’s the conflict that makes it very interesting and not just throwing another character into the story just to have the so-called “3rd wheel”.

Definitely not something that you can watch with your kids.

    L.A. Candy

    June 19, 2009

Although I am not a big fan of Lauren Conrad’s (reality star – The Hills) new book “L.A. Candy”, I thought I should share this info to folks who are in Chicago or who will be in the city on that day.

According the radio news (and her own site), LC will have her book tour here at the Windy City on the following dates:

    June 20, 2009 at 2pm
    Anderson’s Bookshop (http://www.andersonsbookshop.com/)
    Naperville, Illinois

The book is about the life of reality-tv star 19-year-old Jane Roberts.  It sounds like a semi-autobiographical journey of the author. Just like her show, “The Hills” and “Laguna Beach”.

I admit, I watched “Laguna Beach”. LOL! It was a good show though!

    I never watched “The Hills”.

If other medium such as social networking site doesn’t give you your 15-minute of fame, then don’t be sad! You still have a chance! LOL!

Go to American Idol audition in the Windy City. That’s on Monday, June 22 for Season 9 . Registered hopefuls can begin lining up outside the United Center, 1901 W. Madison St., as early as 5 a.m. on that date.  I heard this on the radio today.
