  • The storyline may not be the greatest, but the colors, the special effects, and the animation is definitely worth another trip down the rabbit hole!

This is a sequel to the first movie where Alice reunites with her old friends and learns of her true destiny.

    A must see movie nevertheless.

    Remember Me

    March 12, 2010

It looks like Remember Me will be a big hit because of the young girls and the formerly young girls! LOL!

    This is now playing.

    Dear John

    March 1, 2010

Dear John is not one of those complicated movies. It’s an alright movie. It’s entertaining. It’s a “feel good”  love story with a twist. The twist is not at all predictable. Of course, the common elements of an “N. Sparks” novel have to be there – beach, house by the beach, and the moon or the stars.

It will make you hungry though. It’s not because of the story itself. It’s because of the kids running around constantly inside the theater.

    So, from Biaggi’s to Houlihan’s. Final choice – Houlihan’s!!

    Oh brothers!

    January 13, 2010

I asked few friends if they wanted to watch BROTHERS with me. Well, I got no takers!! LOL! So, I ended up watching  it with Dennis. *sigh*….kidding!

It’s based on Susan Beir’s 2004 Danish-language film. I think they bought the rights to this foreign flick and then made it their own. They slightly changed the plot though. In my opinion, the movie has the OSCAR written all over it.

Similar to pearl harbor? Not really. Totally different plot. It will remind you of it though. Definitely NOT a chick flick.

Here’s the plot from www.apple.com. Check out IMDB as well.

    ==============================

When a decorated Marine goes missing overseas, his black-sheep younger brother cares for his wife and children at home—with consequences that will shake the foundation of the entire family. BROTHERS tells the powerful story of two siblings, thirtysomething Captain Sam Cahill (Tobey Maguire) and younger brother Tommy Cahill (Jake Gyllenhaal), who are polar opposites. A Marine about to embark on his fourth tour of duty, Sam is a steadfast family man married to his high school sweetheart, the aptly named Grace (Natalie Portman), with whom he has two young daughters (Bailee Madison, Taylor Grace Geare). Tommy, his charismatic younger brother, is a drifter just out of jail who’s always gotten by on wit and charm. He slides easily into his role as family provocateur on his first night out of prison, at Sam’s farewell dinner with their parents, Elsie (Mare Winningham) and Hank Cahill (Sam Shepard), a retired Marine.

    AVATAR

    January 4, 2010

We watched AVATAR on its 2nd day of showing. It’s absolutely worth the money!!!

Cameron has created another masterpiece since Titanic.

AVATAR is very impressive on a technical level, and not so much on the story and/or the casting. For those of you who can determine where the film splits between animation and CGI, well goodluck in this one. It’s really hard to tell. The colors, sights, narrative are breathtaking. GO WATCH IT! Highly recommended!

    It’s a wrap!

    October 29, 2009

Taylor’s dating Taylor. Must be some publicity stunt for their upcoming movie, “Valentine’s Day”.

    Alice in Wonderland

    October 28, 2009

There’s a new movie coming early 2010 – Alice in Wonderland. It’s about a 19-year-old girl named Alice. She returns to the magical world from her childhood adventure, where she reunites with her old friends and learns of her true destiny. That is, to end the Red Queen’s reign of terror.

The movie is directed by Tim Burton. It stars Johnny Depp, Anne Hathaway, Michael Sheen. It’s a 3D fantasy adventure. It’s from Disney (3D eh, well, it figures).

I saw the trailer last night in SPIKE SCREAM Award. Clearly, this is not the wonderland you’re expecting to see. There’s a twist to it and may not be intended for young audience. I’ll define “young” as children younger than 10 maybe(?).

    A “must see” movie indeed.

Well, Wednesday was the opening day of the movie Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.  We waited until Saturday. Everyone’s busy during weekdays.

It wasn’t a great movie. It was good. I thought the first one is still better. It could have been a little more intellectual, and less cheesy. It’s simply wasn’t as much fun as the first one.

We went to see the movie to have a good time and catch up on things. We enjoyed it and we had fun! As usual we, stuffed ourselves with nachos, popcorn and hotdogs.

Evening snack at the pancake house! (http://www.ihop.com/)

Action movies make them hungry. Joy is eating an OPTIMUS PRIME sundae! LOL!

    Up, up and away!

    May 31, 2009

Our plan worked out! We went to see the 3D movie, UP on its first day of showing.

     up

It’s actually a two-fold weekend activity – watch UP and celebrate Thomas’ birthday.

UP is a lovely fantasy movie from Disney Pixar. It received the highest review from the reputable movie critics. It’s a realized love story about a 78-year old man’s undying love for his wife and trying to make their dreams come true. The addition of the young boy who is forcing the old man to assume increasingly grandfatherly duties, just made the movie more interesting, and cuter.

    ============================

The movie won’t start until 6:30. My family was there before 6pm. We got in line while waiting for the other 2 families. 10 minutes before it started, friends arrived with their kids. As much as I wanted to let them cut in line, I decided not to. I thought it would be rude and unfair to others who were there before them. It felt nice knowing that we did the right thing.  Well, not really………. it was only for 10 minutes………..the queen “B” in cream colored vest snuck in at the front and made her way to the middle aisle/seat of the theater. Needless to say, we got the best seat in the house….LOL!

After the movie, we had dinner to continue celebrating Thomas’ 5th birthday!  Happy birthday, Thomas!!

    =======================

    Enjoy some of our photos.

    The first folks in line.

    Now playing…..

    After the movie…

    It’s dinner time!

    Someone’s preparing the iced tea.

    The rice’s almost ready.

    Well, someone’s facebooking while waiting.

    It’s cake time!!

    Iced tea, again??

As expected, golf topic again, and again, and again!

That’s the culprit in navy blue shirt and his ultra expensive Cobra golf clubs.

    Angels & Demons

    May 20, 2009

The long wait is finally over. Angels & Demons is now playing.

It’s a story about saving the Catholicism. In my opinion, it’s overly serious than the first one (Da Vinci Code). Too many demons than angels. The demons are the people who tried to bury this religion. The angels are those who keep their faith and beliefs.  It’s a movie that is packed with Vatican intrigue.

I did not know that it’s actually the first book and not the Da Vinci Code. Thanks to Pam for schooling me on this.

Why wait another week if you can watch it right now? Right? Exactly my point!

To concentrate fully, I had to have a full stomach, of course. LOL!

Chinatown Restaurant was the answer. It’s only my 2nd time to eat there, and I still think that the food is great!

As you can tell we have 2 new adopted BFFs. The sisters in glasses…LOL!

On with the movie. We’re the first ones. We missed the earlier show.
