  • I was not into supernaturals, science-fiction stuff. Even at the height of the Harry Potter’s popularity, I didn’t fall into the bandwagon. I never owned the book nor watched the film. I read about the author though and how it all started.

Occasionally,  I will hear about a certain author of a best-seller. I will find out the target audience. If it suits me, I’ll buy the book.

A month or so ago, I heard about this young author. Relatively new in the literature world, but already captured millions of readers. Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight is the number one best-seller of all time. (Check her writings through www.stepheniemeyer.com)

Intrigued by her story, I did some research. I was fascinated by her style of writing and how she came out with this ridiculously amazing story. It was a dream. It was nameless for a while. Until she found a perfect name for her vampire and for her female lead. Edward and Bella were named.

After a long day at work, not to mention the level of stress I experienced, I wanted to just get out, do something fun, and not talk about it for a while. I thought of watching a movie. Not sure what though. I knew that Twilight is in the theater. Like I said, I was not sure about the movie. After receiving a phone call from a friend who watched it first, I was finally convinced. I took my husband with me at the movie theater. I didn’t think that he’s happy about the idea but he could not say “no” to me. Off we go. We caught the 7:15 show at AMC 30. He got me a bag of popcorn, a box of nestle crunch and a soda. The movie started at exacly 7:30. At the first scene, I started to fall in love with the movie already. It felt like you’re the lead character, in my opinion. Until, the vampire walked gracefully in the “cafeteria scene”. The female director surely knows how to work with the actor’s eyes. It was the most beautiful creature I’ve ever seen!

The movie ended. It’s obvious that there will be “part 2″. Longing for some more answers and more captivating scenes, I found myself asking my husband if he could get me the books. I mean the boxed set! I knew the set is so expensive. I guess, I could settle for individual, softbound copies. No, I would not settle for that! I wanted to get the hardbound, boxed set!

Amidst the chaos of the “Thanksgiving Sale”, I took my husband to the nearest bookstore. You will not find the boxed set in the table/shelf. You should know how to ask and who to ask. We called them first. Of course, they would say “sorry, we’re out of stock”. I took a chance. I was happy, I did. I got the boxed set.

Not sure what happened, but I found myself watching the movie again that night with equally obsessed friends (well, one of them is). I found out that the more you watched the movie, the more obsessed you will be. I will not be ashamed of it. Sometimes, it’s healthy to be curious with literature, novels, ancient stories, and the like.

Right at this very moment, Sunday morning of November 30, 2008,   I am at chapter 15 of Saga 1 (book 1 – Twilight), page 315. This is the chapter about “The Cullens”, the vampire family.

Every line, every sentence in the book will capture your heart as if you’re the main character in this complicated “star-crossed” passions.

Like I said, my weekend/holiday plan was ruined. Even at the very last minute, I wasn’t sure what to do and how I could make this a lovely holiday weekend for my family. Fortunately, I have understanding friends that invited us without questioning the complications.

It was a pleasant evening with them. It was nice and simple.

Life is so unpredictable. One day, you’re in cloud 9. Next day, you’re miserable. To top it all, your holiday week is ruined! It’s partly my fault because I should have known better. I still let it happened. Can you blame me though?

People have to realize that for some, planning is very important. If you ruined somebody’s plans, then you pretty much ruined their lives.  In addition, if you’re not sure, just zip it. Don’t say a word.

I’m disgusted, but what can I do though. Truly, life is so unpredictable because people that are up to no good can make huge contributions to it.

    LV Damier Azur – Speedy

    November 24, 2008

Hilary Duff showed off one stylin’ carry-on…the Louis Vuitton Damier Azur. This blue and white checkerboard print has a younger appeal than the traditional Louis Vuitton monogram handbags. It’s roomy shape makes it a great option when you need to put lots of stuff.

I have been wanting to own one of these Speedy bags in Damier Azur pattern since my old ones are in signature monogram pattern.  To my surprise, yesterday was my LUCKY day!!

This style is called Speedy. It comes in 3 different sizes, Speedy 25, Speedy 30 and Speedy 35.

I got Speedy 30 with a matching wallet. The wallet, I may have to exchange for a bigger one. I got the zipper-type with few slots for cards. It’s a little bit small. So, my hubby will return it today for a bigger one.

In case, you’re looking for an LV store, there’s no need to go to downtown. There’s a new one in Oakbrook Mall, across J.Crew and Tiffany’s.

Reports show that Catherine Hardwicke’s vampire chiller earned $70.6 million, making it the biggest opening ever for a female director.  The film made an impressive $20,636 per theater, according to Sunday morning estimates.

The book has sold millions of copies worldwide. Goodluck if you want to buy a copy. It’s sold out!

The book was written by a stay-at-home mom. It is a young adult fiction, romance, gothic fantasy!  That explains why it’s sold so well … in 20 different languages.

Don’t blame your failed business model. Don’t hope that the government will bail you out of your misery.  Don’t blame your agent if your house is still on the market. Don’t wonder why your neighbor is not putting so many holiday lights this year. Don’t assume that if  you slack at work, someone will be there to cover your ass.  Don’t think that the economy will go back in it’s original state any time soon. There’s no such thing as magic. Do your share. Conserve. Be patient. Be supportive.

A 90-minute documentary, “Britney: For The Record“, will be aired in the U.S. on Nov. 30 on MTV.

A camera followed Britney for 3months as she moved to pull her life back on track. She wanted to make this film because she wanted to be seen in the light that she wanted to be seen. This is an opportunity to set the record straight and talk about what she has been through.
