Flooding
September 29, 2009
News said that the number of dead and missing people from Tropical Storm Ketsana has climbed to at least over 200 people. The storm set off the worst flooding in the Philippines’ main island, affecting the capital city and nearby provinces, in approximately 42 years.
God speed to all of the distraught families.

KoL
September 25, 2009
Do you know Kings of Leon?
They are the hottest band right now. They are an American band but received their initial success in UK. They’ve been around since early 2000. They started making hits just recently. One of the songs was nominated in the recent VMA. It’s “Use Somebody”.
Tonight, they will be Noblesville, IN. This is actually not too far from my location, but, I couldn’t go still. ;-(
The Forgotten
September 23, 2009
After watching DWTS (Yes, I do watch Dancing With The Stars. LOL!), the TV channel ABC has a new show. It’s the premiere night of the new drama series, “The Forgotten”.
It stars Christian Slater. It’s a story that centers around a team of volunteers or amateur detectives that aims to solve a murder mystery of a Jane Doe. They call themselves “The Forgotten Network”. The network consists of an ex-detective, an office worker, a homicide detective, a science teacher, a young aspiring artist, and a phone company worker. The Forgotten airs every Tuesday at 9central on ABC.
Go check it out!

Summer has ended
September 22, 2009
Apparently, today is the LAST day of summer in Illinois, USA (northern hemisphere).
Already?? That was odd! I didn’t even notice that we had summer. LOL!
Do you want to own a piece of a movie merchandise? Or copy Bella Swan? Maybe, just want to own a cool jacket for the fall and winter?
When I was surfing the net the other day, I found this jacket that is said to be the exact jacket Bella Swan wore in the movie Twilight.
It is designed by BB Dakota. It’s 100% cotton. It comes in different colors. It’s sold for $58. It’s a cargo-jacket style. It’s not tacky at all.

Apple Picking At The Orchard
September 21, 2009
Harvest season for apples is almost over. So, before it ends, the family has to catch it! It’s a tradition.
This year, we went to Kuiper’s Family Farm (www.kuipersfamilyfarm.com/ ). It’s a family owned farm with 160-acre apple orchard.
There’s an ample parking at the orchard. We parked and went straight by the entrance gate. Paid $7.50 per person. The fee came with a small bag for your apples. The bag can fit about 5 large apples, or, 10 small ones. The activity started with a very short hayride which basically took us in a circle. I thought that was odd. We could have justwalked. It would have been faster. LOL!
=====================================
Old fashioned hayride!
Off we go!
At the site.
Next aisle, the “gala” apples.
Family that picks apple together, stays forever! LOL!
Okay, can you tell what’s wrong in this photo?
You’re right!! It says “Your the apple of our eye” instead of “You’re…..” . LOL!
Lunch time!

September 19, 2009
I did not know that there’s an early morning show on E! on weekends. It’s called “That Morning Show” where they feature celebrities, food, drinks, fashion including jewelry. It’s a very entertaining show. I think it starts as early as 5am central.
This weekend, their guests is a designer named Robyn Rhodes. She is a former celebrity assistant who channeled her creativity to start her own line of fashion jewelry. Her designs are being worn by Hollywood’s elite such as Scarlett Johansson, Eva Langoria, Penelope Cruz to name a few.
I visited her website and found out that her lines are surprisingly affordable. Not cheap, but somewhat affordable. Her collections include earrings, bracelets, necklaces, rings and bra charms. Yes, you read it right. Bra charms. Interesting concept, huh!?
The charms come in different stones – onyx, rose quartz, jade, etc. The stones are believed to have healing properties. These must be worn with direct skin contact and closer to your heart. To wear it, simply hook the charm into the bra strap as shown below. Nice!

Blackberry farm
September 17, 2009
Here’s our recent trip at the Blackberry Farm (http://www.foxvalleyparkdistrict.org/?q=node/2).
This is a living history museum on 54 scenic acres with a lake, ponds and a stream. The grounds contain an arboretum with more than 200 varieties of trees, floral displays and historic agricultural gardens.
Here are some of our photos. Enjoy!

Not-so-traditional
September 15, 2009
We’ve been together for that many years already? Time definitely flies.
After many years, we still have googly eyes for each other, and, we still say “I love you” everyday. Eww!!
A wedding anniversary is generally a time for celebrating the date you were married. Each anniversary is a milestone that people normally celebrate with a traditional gift. Well, we’re not a traditional kind of couple, so, we gifted ourselves with iPhones instead. We upgraded our first generation ones with 3G S….LOL!
We had lunch with our family at Pappadeaux (http://www.pappadeaux.com/home/). This is one of our favorite seafood/cajun style restaurants. Dennis likes everything from the menu. My personal favorite is sauteed crabfinger dish. Their creme brulee is to die for. The kids liked the fried alligator and the oysters trio. We’ve been to few seafood restaurants and not one has come close to this place. This has always been at the top of our list.
Best enjoyed for groups
September 14, 2009
What would you do if you just want to hang out with your friends on a Friday night, but don’t want to just stay at a local coffee shop? Well, we had 2 options – Claim Jumper or Pinstripes. Not sure what happened but we ended up going to Pinstripes. We chose to eat outside at the patio. They had live music. Local musicians (it’s a duo) performed that night. Good selections of songs.
This place is fun, but certainly best enjoyed for groups. Pinstripes is definitely a place to go to if you’re looking for a place where you can dine and play games in the suburbs. Obviously, we’re thrilled when they opened one up in the suburbs.
Yes, it was a little chilly, but they have one of those torches that acts like a heater. They provide blankets too for those who are super cold. So, that worked!
I think we laughed more than we ate. That was really a fun night.
Their wine selection.
At the patio. She’s looking at the torch that moved around so many times.
The creme brule that was served to few lucky ones only. If you’re expecting, then you’ll get one automatically…LOL!
