  • Bowl away!

    November 30, 2009

I haven’t had a chance to bowl with them due to work sched until last week.

I kid you not, they do this thing religiously every week!

So, here are the pros at PINSTRIPES!  ;-)

I truly enjoyed the GLEE Season 1 soundtrack. They are actually pretty good considering they’re not singers by profession (well, I guess sort of because of the show). One of my faves is Alone.

The songs totally kick ass! Definitely, not your typical “covers” album.

    One Million Lights

    November 25, 2009

The 2009 Magnificent Mile Lights Festival officially kicked off the Christmas season in Chicago on November 21.

The parade was highlighted by Mickey Mouse. The festival illuminated over one million lights along Michigan Avenue.

Enjoy some of the photos taken at the festival.

    Reward

    November 24, 2009

Should you reward your child for good grades or improved study habits? Should you need to be cautious in doing so?

Learning isn’t necessarily that fun. You should know this. You’ve been there. It isn’t fun or easy for every child. A little motivation can be a good way to get more studying and concentration out of them. I feel that a child should be rewarded not only on special occasions such as birthdays and holidays, but also from making good grades. It increases the likelihood of an improved performance.

    So, it’s a double celebration! It’s Bianca’s 7th birthday celebration. Also, it’s a celebration for her’s and Jarrett’s good grades this semester!

Bianca’s grades are all oustanding. Her reading level is that of a 3rd or 4th grade already. She’s been getting advanced level homework/projects due to this. We’re happy that her school recognizes this type of achievement.

Jarrett started at a regular pace. However, he progressed so fast and showed a dramatic improvement in a short period of time. That summarizes the good grades he got this semester. As parents, we’re so proud of them!

Big deal, right? Well, it is for us. Regardless of what they’ve accomplished, we feel like they need to be rewarded for understanding their priorities and the value of education at a young age. Even if you know what they’re capable of and expect it, giving them a little incentive wouldn’t hurt.

Bianca wanted to celebrate her birthday at the American Girl Place Restaurant. We could not get a spot. It’s fully booked. We should have made a reservation 3 months in advance (as so they said). We didn’t know. So, she’ll have to settle for a trip to the store for now, and wait for the date my husband and I booked for her. Jarrett just wanted a lego toy. That one is relatively easy to accomplish.

Easy or not, as parents, you’ll do everything to make them happy.  It’s just a little incentive if you think about it.

Stephanie would like to eventually have The Host be part of a Trilogy. Oh, I would like to read that!!

Nope. Midnight Sun will not be continued at this time as much as she wants to throw it in the bookstore shelves.

    Always feminine

    November 18, 2009

Dollhouse shoes are known for their trendy styles and fashion-forward designs. They’re certainly not afraid to raise the bar when it comes to shoe design.

Their designs are funky and very girly. Always feminine. One problem though – how can you walk in those pairs? If you buy a pair, make sure you don’t injure yourself. LOL!

    Unfriend

    November 17, 2009

Certainly, the English language is changing (well, it’s always been, and I’m sure you’ve noticed that too). It’s constantly adding a word that best reflects the current mood of the year. For example, “UNFRIEND” is now the new Oxford American Dictionary’s 2009 Word of the Year.

    Read below:

    http://www.pcworld.com/article/182339/unfriend_chosen_as_oxford_dictionarys_2009_word_of_the_year.html

I think this word was chosen because of the extreme popularity of FACEBOOK. The word “unfriend” refers to the deletion of friend(s) on Facebook. They used it as an action to trigger deletion of your cyber friend(s) from your account. Therefore, if it’s an “action”, then it must be a “verb”. Or not. LOL!

Whatever that is, it is now the coolest word in 2009. Believe it or not.

The other words that made it to the finalists for 2009 include netbook, which is a small laptop primarily meant for net browsing, and sexting, which is defined as sending sexually explicit texts and pictures via cell phone.

    I’m glad I did

    November 16, 2009

I have not seen most of them for quite a while! That’s why I agreed to join them after I was informed that they’re thinking of having brunch together one weekend.  And, I’m glad I did.

Friends do come and go for a variety of reasons – different lifestyles, status, interests, misunderstanding, unavoidable circumstances, work, distance, etc. In certain cases, friendship somewhat fades due to distance and lack of communication. Maybe 1 or 2 factors happened to us. In the end, I still miss them a whole heck of a lot! Joining them that weekend? I’m glad I did.

From Vic’s house, to a restaurant called Rodan’s, then back to Vic’s house, and finally to Chin’s. Okay, that was a merry-go-round….thanks for the ride. Kidding! LOL!

    Passion for Fashion

    November 13, 2009

Bandai America Inc. has released a new toy/product called Harumika (www.Harumika.com).

It’s a set consists of swaths of colorful and patterned fabrics that will be used to create individual clothing designs on a miniature plastic mannequin. The mannequin has a gap in the middle where you can insert the fabric to hold it in place.

It’s a very unique design toy that will make any little girl unleash their inner fashion creativity. Exactly! Just like Project Runway!

    Check out my daughter’s recent creation…. ;-)

Do you want to wear a sculptured skull on your hand? Get one that will make a statement. And there’s only one that will do the trick - an Alexander McQueen Skull Cocktail Ring.

It has a Swarovski crystal eyes, teeth and accents. And purple pearls for the eyes. Nice, eh!
